Written Instructions Below For The 3-Second Minimum Drill Standard:

Four Universal Firearms Safety Rules:

1. All guns are always loaded.

2. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.

3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.

4. Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.

Stage 1: Load firearm with FOUR (4) rounds and holster safely.

Very simply, while obeying ALL the 4 fundamental firearms safety rules, you will load your pistol with exactly four (4) rounds – no more no less – and place it into your holster, while the entire time the muzzle NEVER points in an unsafe direction and your trigger finger is straight, high and in register OFF the trigger on the frame or slide of the pistol.

Stage 2: Shoot 3 shots in 3 seconds or less at 3yds

The instructions for the drill are very simple and printed on the official target:

Standard: This is a pass/fail drill.
Par Time: 3-Seconds (or less)
Pass/Fail: Shots outside circle are a fail (line breaks count). Shots after 3-seconds don’t count and a fail.

Using a shot timer, with your gun loaded and in your holster, with your shirt or other concealment garment covering the gun, like you would normally dress for concealed carry – you will react to the shot timer beep by drawing and firing 3 shots to the 8” circle. Again, all 3 shots must be 3 seconds or less and they must all be inside the 8” circle or you have failed the drill. It’s go or no go!

Stage 3: Unload firearm safely.

The last and final stage is important.

This was a 3-shot drill, but you were instructed to load 4 rounds into the magazine.

You will now draw the gun safely, obeying all the four fundamental firearms safety rules – especially keeping the muzzle in a safe direction and finger straight, high and off the trigger– and unload the firearm completely.

You will eject the magazine from the gun, and eject the live round still in the chamber, then visually and physically verify the gun is completely unloaded. Then store the firearm safely for future use.

Conclusion:

Shooter must complete all 3 stages to pass. Stage 1 and Stage 3 are also pass/fail if at anytime the shooter breaks any of the 4 Fundamental Firearms Safety rules.
