The Patriot Training Center is located on over 33 acres just outside of Talladega Alabama. That makes it a 1-day or less drive from most parts of South Eastern United States and convenient for air travel too!
Range Address:
The range is located at this address, typing it into GPS will get you there:
1581 Richeytown Rd
Eastaboga AL 36260<
1-855-927-4668
PLEASE NOTE: Our campus is closed to the public. Only registered students are allowed at our property on the day of classes only. There is no visitation permitted for any other reason. Do not stop by, this is a safety issue and we take it very seriously.
Lodging/Hotels:
Oxford, AL is about 12 miles east of the range and is the best area for lodging, restaurants and any other needs in very close proximity to the range. Oxford is about 15-20 minute drive (door-door) to the range. There are a variety of hotels and restaurants right off the interstate. Anniston, AL is another nearby town.
About 20 miles west of the range is the town of Pell City, AL which also has multiple hotels and restaurants and is a recommended option.
Travel/Airports:
Birmingham Airport (BHM) â is the closest airport at just a short 45-minute drive east to the range. Or, you can fly into the Atlanta Airport (ATL), and itâs approximately a 2-hour drive west to the range.
Watch the class prep video above and read the information below for more details on how to prepare for your class and get the mostout of the training!
This is semi-auto, magazine fed rifle class. Please bring:
Guns(s):
1. RIFLE: A semi-auto, magazine fed rifle (for example, AR-15, AK-47 or 74, Mini-14, etc)
A second rifle of the same caliber can be brought as a “backup”. If something breaks on your primary gun, you can finish the class with the same equipment and ammunition. (Suggested, definitely not mandatory.)
-Sling for your rifle
-Iron sights or optics (Both are suitable, but if youâre using optics, we recommend backup iron-sights.)
-Three, 30-round (standard capacity) magazines
-A magazine pouch for at least one rifle magazine is helpful (suggested, definitely not necessary. You can run your second magazine from a rear pocket)
Magazines:
Bring at least three magazines for your rifle (more is better if you have them, you can save time reloading mags in class), but 3 is plenty. You need not wear more than two spare magazines on your person, but more magazines in the range bag or a dump pouch is always good. Most times, you can put one magazine in the rifle and one in your support side back pocket and you will be good.
Quality belt and sling for your rifle:
A solid gun belt, with one rifle mag pouch is plenty. If you donât have a rifle magazine pouch, thatâs fine too, and you can put a secondary rifle magazine in your back pocket. For this class, you have the option to run it “slick” as explained just now with your normal conceal carry setup, OR, you can bring a full battle belt/outside the waistband duty rig along with plate carrier or chest rigs for your rifle magazines if you so choose. This class is not built around a conceal carry paradigm per se, because if you have to grab your rifle, then you’ve already gone quite “overt”.
Clothing:
You should consider wearing light clothing as we will be outside and doing physical activity, so you will probably sweat. That said, long sleeve pants and shirts are recommended both for sun protection, but also because you will be doing different shooting positions outside on possibly rough terrain. You can bring appropriate extra layers in the case of expected cold/wet weather. Kneepads and elbow pads are optional (Definitely not necessary, but if you have “bad” knees or elbows, you might consider them. Youâre also welcome to bring a shooting mat.)
Safety Gear:
Eye and ear protection are mandatory. If you donât wear prescription glasses, you must wear safety glasses. Electronic hearing protection is REQUIRED (if you donât already have electronic ear protection, please buy it, and if thatâs not possible before class, you can rent ours for $10 per day). You will need a ball cap (hat) and comfortable closed-toe shoes.
Ammo:
Please bring 500 rounds of quality ammunition for your rifle. Bring more if you have it and the means to travel with it. Please donât bring junk gun show reloads. You will spend more time fiddling with your gun than learning how to fight with it. Good ammo will keep your gun running and make for a much better learning experience.
Food:
Bring lunch, snacks, water/drinks (lots of drinks) and personal hygiene products- we will be at the range all day and take a short lunch break (approximately 30 minutes) â there will not be time to leave the range to get food!
This class is not the best time to break in a new gun, or use untested or unreliable guns, ammunition, or other equipment! Those issues will be a huge distraction from your training and I am unlikely to be able to help you solve those issues.
TRAINING TIME:
Day 1 â 8am to approximately 5pm
Day 2 â 8am to approximately 5pm
Class will start promptly at 8 am. Please be in the classroom area NO LATER than 7:45 am, for paperwork, etc. Safety briefing starts at 8:45, you must be present for that. If you are late and miss the safety briefing you will not be allowed to participate in the class. After the morningâs classroom session, we will make a short drive to the range and the class will continue there for the rest of the day.
We conduct a hot range. If you are bringing your own rifle, leave your rifle in the car until told otherwise. Likewise, if you are carrying concealed, report to the classroom with your gun worn in the holster if you conceal carry normally. If you are not conceal carrying your gun that day, it can stay in your range bag. DO NOT handle your weapon in the parking area or the classroom.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact my assistant Josh at 1-855-927-4668 or [email protected] .
